Today's Toby

"Toby, if we're all going to live in that yellow submarine you've got to make room for all of us."  

When an impromptu trip to 7 Eleven yields a SPONGEBOB ice cream, it must be your lucky day.

I'm always so delighted by how much this kiddo loves reading books. Home is one of the few places where you can have your hula hoop AND your book.  

It's possible that Toby is getting bored with Camp Mom. To be fair, these paint-sicles did not age well after a year of being in the freezer. Oops.  

Let it be known, Toby is not one to just "take your word for it". He does his due diligence for matters large and small.  

  Toby wanted me to film him doing slow motion running. Here you see Spencer racing with him and DELIGHTED to have Toby join him at the end of the race. And in the second one, you can see Spencer joining in on the slow motion, though he's clearly not quite sure what's going on.

Yesterday was National Lollipop Day. In the interest of enticing young readers to come in and checkout a book, the library was giving out lollipops. Which is to say, one of Toby's favorite places was giving put one of his favorite things. Don't mind if I do! (He wanted a picture with the wrapper on and the wrapper off.)  

"The pool was fine. I didn't like it. But I didn't not like it." So there you have it. This from the kid who told me he would be very sad if we did NOT go to the pool.   

It took a little trial and error (and some internet research), but we were able to race our balloons.  

Some days call for an Orca Whale.  

Camp also took headshots of all the kids for the lobby. (It's now hanging his bedroom door.) Talk about star treatment!   

Yesterday Toby's show opened. And today it closed. His group played rainbow fish and jellyfish. Hence the rainbow on his forehead. Backstage before the show. (Apparently after trying these pants on, Toby told the costume designer "they're a little tight, but I can make it work.") Post show.  

Some pictures from camp. I think this is from the number "BFF". This was one of Toby's counselors. I can only assume this was a theater game.  

Camp also had "beach day". This was Toby before camp. Backwards hat. Camp bracelet. Swim shorts. And this was him after camp - with some fellow campers. Needless to say, he's having a pretty good time.  

Camp had crazy hair day this week. We "styled" Toby's hair like a pineapple, since SpongeBob lives in a pineapple under the sea.  

Throw back to our July Home Depot trip. Here's Toby painting his bean bag toss as a US flag.  Note his collection of pins growing on his apron.  

It's the start of tech week! And, for once, it doesn't involve mom or dad. Woohoo!
