Today's Toby

Already asleep. Just kidding. I'm not even sleepy. (And I may or may not have toothpaste all over. Who can say? Things get wild before bed.)

Today was Beach Day! (At camp. No actual beaches were visited.)  

4 levels... 5 levels... 6 levels And then the satisfying destruction:  

One of Toby's summer reading categories called for him to select a recipe from a cookbook to make with an adult. He wisely selected a cookie cookbook.  

Writing his first book review for summer reading. No pictures please! It's still in progress.

Toby has been making such great progress with his swimming.

Toby and some of his classmates on their last day of first grade. He's now officially a rising second grader.  

If you are lucky enough to have a Dad who's willing to be silly in front of all your classmates, you have won the dad lottery.  

Yesterday marked the first day of the Big June Tournament - a flag tournament which is run annually in our family between Flag Day and Toby's birthday. Tragically, Argentina lost in the very first match-up. But perhaps this will be Ghana or Uzbekistan's year. Time will tell.  

Today Mom and Dad got to come it to Toby's class to read a story in celebration of Toby's birthday. They celebrated all the summer birthdays at in June. Toby selected the books "Monkey With A Tool Belt" (read by Mom) and "The Book With No Pictures" (read by Dad) Afterwards, his class sang him Happy Birthday.

The new teeth are coming in just fine. Why do you ask?  

 Here's to three years of being a super big brother.

New place opened up. I got a sneak peak in the kitchen. Food all aver the floor, but a very nice chef.  

Toby and his friend Anna (who had to go home) started a chalk nail salon (where they "paint" your nails with chalk). Spencer graciously agreed to be one of their first clients. Toby also painted his own nails because this opportunity was too good to pass up. A little messy, but very glamorous.  

Toby is hot to trot about summer reading. Today that worked out in Spencer's favor when Toby agreed to read to him.

Our polling place is directly across the street from the cafe/bakery. So naturally, Toby thought we should get cookies after voting.
